I went to the Auckland Museum today on a school trip. I had a really great time, but since I was looking after a group of kids, I spent more time counting heads than actually reading the information in all the displays. I did, however, manage to snap several pictures of different artifacts, but I think iI'll have to return later if I get the chance to actually focus on the tour. There was a lot to see, including large displays of New Zealand's natural history, Maori cultural artifacts, and World Wars I and II. Right at the end, Ina little glass box on the staircase, I found Sir Edmund Hillary's pick axe. Here are the photos I managed to take. I'm sorry that a lot of them are sideways; I can't figure out how to rotate them on my iPad. Perhaps later, I will find a way to fix it on the laptop.

AuthorI am a twenty-four year old Masters student who is about to finally complete years and years of schooling. The last thing on my agenda before I get my degree in Elementary Education is to finish student teaching... in New Zealand! After what I am sure will be an incredible learning experience, I will go on a 2000 mile hike with my wonderful best friend. I am taking this opportunity, before my career, before my "life" takes off, to step back from everyday life and explore a beautiful piece of the world. Categories |
